Monika Maciejewska

Monika graduated from psychology. She studied in Australia at Griffith University, feeling more and more acutely that therapy lacks connection with the body and spirituality. During this time, yoga gave her more and more respite and allowed her to reconnect with intuition. On a trip to India, she took a 200-hour Hatha Vinyasa-style yoga instructor course. Her path led her to another 300h course in Portugal, under the supervision of a teacher Nina Vukas, creator of the Spanda Vinyasa style. Willing to connect with her body even deeper, she completed a dietetics course and then plunged into Ayurveda. She took an abhyanga massage course, i.e. Ayurvedic massage with warm oils, learning about the elements that build us and the world. She learned how health depends on our unique build, the quality of our energies, and how well we understand it. Intuitive nutrition answered her many questions related not only to how to eat but also how to renew her contact with the body, heal her perception of the body, and abandon the ideals imposed by society. Delving into the teachings of the pioneers of intuitive eating, Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch, combining them with Ayurvedic knowledge about health, she found a way to live in harmony with herself and with nature.
How do you take care of yourself on a daily basis?
I take care of my little rituals. Mornings are the most important to me. I wash my face, teeth and tongue; I ask myself if I have time and space to move. Yoga is, for me, the hygiene of the body; it moves energy and clears the mind. I often do it in the morning, but not always. I take care of nutrition, eat what I like, cook myself from scratch as often as possible (without processed products), and not be poisoned by remorse if I sometimes deviate from it. I try to balance taking care of health with satisfying the senses. I deepen the understanding of my nature and my cyclicality. At the end of the day, I listen to my needs, often going to bed no later than 10 p.m.
How do you understand mental body balance?
Our body is subject to the mind. We have a greater influence on the body than we think. The mind, however, pushes many uncomfortable thoughts and emotions into the subconscious, where they continue to affect our body without our knowledge. Therefore, to achieve mental and bodily balance, you need to expand your self-awareness and delve into those parts of the mind that hide negative emotions and traumas. Releasing them will get rid of the conflict and heal the body, and the mind will have more peace.
What inspires you?
The women around me inspire me. The ones I know and the ones I don't know. They are women who discovered their inner power and draw from it every day, fulfilling their dreams and giving love to others. I am fascinated by the combination of femininity and masculinity in each of us, and the change inspires me in people who have managed to find acceptance for everyday life and do not constantly want something more. I get inspiration from all people who share their knowledge about health, self-acceptance and inner peace.
